One of the most common worries when getting a cleaning is, “I hope I don’t have any cavities!”
What exactly is a cavity and why do we get them? A cavity is a hole in the tooth caused by tooth decay. Tooth decay is a result of not caring for your teeth the way you should.
Aside from not brushing and flossing like the doctor ordered, one of the less obvious causes of tooth decay is diet.
Of course, candy is a big no-no when it comes to keeping your teeth in great shape, but many people don’t realize that there is a lot of added sugar in everything we eat..even french fries!
So here are a few tips to avoid those dreaded, added trips to the dentist:
-Brush and floss every day
-Avoid not only sugary foods, but anything processed if possible (try to eat whole, clean foods that are as close to their natural form)
-Replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months
